Jacques Toffi Receives German Riders Cross in Bronze

Internationall renowned equestrian photographer Jacques Toffi has been bestowed with the German Riders Cross in Bronze. A short award ceremony was held for him at the 2017 German Championships in Balve on Saturday 10 June 2017.

The Hamburg based photographer received the medal from Count Breido zu Rantzau, the president of the German equestrian federation. 

Toffi celebrated his 65th birthday on 18 April. In 1970 the Syrian born Toffi came via the Balkan route to Germany and studied shipping in Hamburg. He became captain and steered cargo ships for 14 years over all across the globe. He discovered his passion for equestrian photography at a polo show and then began shooting at the Hamburg Dressage and Show Jumping derby. Nowadays, Toffi is the most celebrated and respected equestrian sport photographer and he's the in-house photographer for ST. Georg magazine. 

"Special people make a show. Riders, organizers, but also the team behind the rider, as well as photographers and journalists. Jacques Toffi is one of those special people," said Zu Rantzau during the award ceremony. "By now he has been a photographer for 35 years and he's known as the best in his art form. He always achieves to capture special themes, characters and moments."
