Dragon Welt, Gorklintgaards Quinto, Leo Degraunch Win Second Swedish WCYH Selection Trial in Flyinge

2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

The 5-year old Dragon Welt, the 6-year old Gorklintgaards Quinto and the 7-year old Leo Degraunch became the winners of the second of two Swedish team selection trials for the 2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. The second trial was held in Flyinge, Sweden, on 8 June 2017 and judges Maria Knuttsson, Annette Fransen Iacobaeus, and Wiveca Schenholm assessed the classes.

In the 5-year old category eight combinations battled it out and Ida-Linn Lundholm rode Jan Brink's Hanoverian stallion Dragon Welt (by Dancier x Weltmeyer) to victory with 78.200 points. Jacob Norby Sorensen and Bjarke Lautsen's  Danish bred Gammelengards Zapa (by Zonik x Akinos) were second with 77.80 points.

In the 6-year old division Mattias Jansson and the Danish warmblood Gorklintgaards Quinto (by Quaterback x Sunny Boy) reigned supreme with 78.600 points, leaving the second placed pair in the distance. Maj-Christine Fogelberg and the Swedish bred Zappa SV (by Zuidenwind x De Niro) were second with 74.80%. 

With only four combinations entered, Sandra Sterntorp steered Helen Holzt Karlsso's Oldenburg bred gelding Leo Degraunch (by Sir Oldenburg x Welt Hit II) to victory with 73.923% ahead of Mikaele Alderin-Danielsson on her own Swedish mare Bossanova YL (by Bocelli x Lobo) with 72.067%.

Young horse selectors Jan-Ove Olsson and Bo Jenå will be announcing the Swedish team for the 2017 World Championships in Ermelo in a few weeks time.
