Austrian Under 25 rider Diana Porsche has given the ride on her young rider's horse Eloy to British junior rider Jade Ellery. The new pair made its how debut at the CDN Gold Coast Opener in Wellington on 6 - 8 January 2017.

Eloy is a 13-year old Hanoverian by Earl x Wendenburg. He already has an extensive career in the show ring, competing at the German Bundeschampionate as a youngster under Christin Schutte and then as a junior riders horse under Lena Schutte. The pair was on the German team at the 2011 European Junior Rider Championships. In 2013 Eloy sold to Austrian junior Diana Porsche who competed him on the Austrian team at the 2014 European Junior Riders Championships in Arezzo, where they finished 23rd.

German Grand Prix rider Dieter Laugks coached Porsche as a youth rider up to Under 25 level and sourced Eloy as well as her current Grand Prix horse Di Sandro for the family. However the Porsche family and Laugks suddenly went separate ways in the spring of 2016 and Porsche moved on to a new coach, horse dealer and trainer Leida Collins-Strijk. Leida was member of the Dutch team at the 1993 European Championships in Lipica, and married Bermudan eventer Tim Collins. The couple runs a successful sales and training yard in Riethoven, The Netherlands, and Wellington Florida, but has moved its core business to Florida in 2017.

Eloy will now become the new competition horse of Jade Ellery, who also trains with Leida Collins. The 17-year old British born Ellery is based in South Spain, but this year has travelled to Florida for the winter show season there. Junior rider Jade competed Inge Coenen's former horse Valette (by Rousseau x Juventus) at international junior riders level in Spain in 2016. She also showed White Cedar (by Woodstock x Acapulco) at national level.

Ellery and Eloy made their show debut at the CDN Gold Coast Opener in Wellington on 6 - 8 January 2017. The combination placed second in the junior team test, scoring 69.662%.

"I am loving getting to know Eddy whilst training," said Ellery. "He is fantastic to ride and I can't wait to learn more with him."
