The 2016 Oldenburg stallion licensing in Vechta, Germany, kicks off on Thursday 17 November 2016 with the presentation of the young colts on hard surface, followed by a mandatory lunging session in the indoor arena of the Oldenburg headquarters.
Forty-seven dressage colts have been selected to participate in the licensing after being assessed at the pre-selection days in October.
On Friday 18 November the jumper colts will be shown in free jumping in the morning, whereas the dressage colts will move in freedom in trot and canter in the afternoon. Afterwards the presentation in hand in walk will be done and the licensing committee will cast its verdict.
On Saturday 19 November the committee will announce the licensing champion and premium ranked stallions. At 13h the auction of licensed and non-licensed stallions will take place. The day will conclude with the highly popular Althengstparade at 4:30 p.m.
In the Althengst parade, famous sires, legendary stallions and hopeful newcomers from the various breeding areas will march in a joint presentation. You will get a first glimpse of the stallions being offered in the upcoming breeding season. Illustrious names such as Vivaldi, his son Despearado and grand son Ibiza, as well as Don Nobless, Fahrenheit, 2014 Oldenburg licensing champion Morricone and 2015 Oldenburg licensing champion Bonds and many others will enchant viewers with their dressage presentations.
A further highlight will be a presentation of the siblings Sir Heinrich OLD, Cindy OLD and Candy OLD. The ribbon-winning siblings by Sir Donnerhall I x Fürst Heinrich x Rubinstein I come from the Cinderella mare line. Candy OLD was the 2016 Oldenburg Elite Mare Champion in Rastede, her brother Sir Heinrich OLD became Bundeschampion of six-year old dressage horses under Anja Wilimzig, and her sister Cindy OLD was Bundeschampion of four-year old riding horses in 2013 after having been crowned Reserve Champion Mare in Rastede’s Brillantring in 2012.
