Manon Desjardins and her cremello Domenik became the grand champions at FEI Dressage pony level at the 2016 French Pony Championships held at the national show grounds in Lamotte-Beuvron, France, on 1 - 3 July 2016. The Open French Pony Championships in Lamotte cover all levels, all ages, and all disciplines for pony sport in France, including the highest level of dressage pony sport.
Judged by Judet, Noyer and Couasnon, the 2016 French FEI Pony Championships took place over two rounds with the second test counting for a double coefficient.
The 16-year old Manon Desjardins and her 8-year old Rhinelander bred Domenik (by Der Harlekin B x Macintosh) won the first round with 69.27% and placed second in the second round with 69.11% but her overall average of 69.16% was good for gold and the national title.
"I'm so proud of my Doudou who gave it his all those two days," said an ecstatic Desjardins, who is trained by Jean Philippe Siat.
Desjardin faced tough competition from Aurore Thevenot on the 12-year old German riding pony Osbourne (by Othello x Benneton S) who was second in the first round with 68.68% but who dominated the final round with 69.23%. Her average of 69.04% earned her the silver. The bronze medal went to Leana Capuy on the 14-year old French bred Olywood de Blonde (by Rotherwood Ambassador x Sherrif) who scored 63.46% in round one and then improved in the finals with 65.08%.
