The 5-year olds Rockpool and Fragrance and the 6-year old Sanciscus won the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the Lübeck Riding show in Lübeck, Germany, on 22 May 2016. Thirteen 5-year olds and just four 6-year olds showed up to obtain an entry ticket for the Bundeschampionate Finals in Warendorf.
Two horses tied in first place in the 5-year old division with an 8.0 total score. Anna Sophie Fiebelkorn steered Connie Bookless' Westfalian gelding Rockpool (by Rock Forever x Florestan) to victory with an 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression. Christin Hilgier and the Hanoverian mare Fragrance (by Fahrenheit x Conteur) also got the trophy after scoring 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot, and 8 for canter, submission and general impression. Hannes Kruger and the Hanoverian mare Sunrise H (by Scolari x Dream of Glory) were third with 7.4.
Swiss Andrea Engeler and her own Hanoverian stallion Sanciscus (by Sancisco x De Niro) were the clear winners in the 6-year old division with an 8.2 total score. The bay stallion got 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Jessica Otten-Willers and the Hanoverian stallion Farrell (by Furst Nymphenburg x Earl) were second with 8.0. The black stallion got 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression.
