The 5-year old Santander and the 6-year old L'Esprit became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional show in Neuss-Grefrath on Sunday 8 May 2016. An experienced panel of judges officiated in Neuss-Grefrath, including Hans-Peter Schmitz, Ralph Tapken and Eckhard Wemhöner for the 5-year olds and Rolf-Peter Fuss, Tapken and Wemhöner for the 6-year olds.
The 5-year old L-dressage horse class was won by Stefanie Steinhauf on the Rhinelander bred Santander (by Sandro Hit x Riccio). Owned by Gestut Babiacki, the dark bay gelding scored 8.1 in total with 7.5 for walk, 8 for trot and canter and 8.5 for submission and general impression. Annabel Frenzen and the Rhinelander gelding SilberStern (by Silbermond x Raphael) were second with 7.6. The dark bay gelding got 7 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8 for canter, 6.5 for submission and 8 for general impression.
Frenzen hoisted the trophy in the 6-year old M-level dressage horse test aboard Louisa Simon's L'Esprit (by Lord Loxley x Sandro Classic). The pair earned an 8.3 total with 7.5 for walk, and 8.5 for trot, canter, submission and general impression. Roy First and his owned Hanoverian mare Femme Fatale (by Florencio x Donnerhall) were second with 7.6. The Israeli rider and his chestnut mare got 7.5 for walk and trot, 8 for canter, 7 for submission and 8 for general impression.
