On the fourth and last pre-selection day for dressage colts for the 2015 KWPN Stallion Licensing, the committee selected 13 out of a group of 52 stallions for the second viewing in February 2015. Not taking the late-licensing into account, 86 dressage bred colts have so far been selected.
The fourth pre-selection day in Ermelo, The Netherlands, was not the best. It was harder to find good quality according to the committee, which consists of Wim Ernes, Reijer van Woudenbergh and Marian Dorresteijn.
"We had hoped to continue on the positive trend but that didn't work. There were no real eye catchers and we had to be strict today when it comes to movement and self carriage," Ernes explained. "Still we did select a few interesting colts nonetheless, including a few offspring from the D-year."
Dream Boy, Diego and Don Tango B all had two offspring selected for the next round. One son by Dorado wad picked.
"In the morning on hard surface a few stallions had too many issues on their conformation, which they couldn't compensate with their performance in freedom. It's a pity but we are looking for complete horses that are correct in their conformation, type and that can convince in movement," Ernes explained.
