The 24-year old Westfalian state stud owned breeding stallion Ehrentanz I has passed away at the end of October. The bay stallion was still live covering mares at the breeding station in Olfen.

Ehrentanz I was bred by Ludwig Schüring and was sired by Ehrentusch out of Fantasie (by Fruhelingsrausch x Anmarsch).

The 1990 born stallion was licensed at the 1992 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster-Handorf and competed his 100-day Stallion Performance Test in 1993 with 119.53 points, finishing third.  He was trained up to Prix St Georges - Intermediaire I level.

Ehrentanz I's most successful offspring include Excalibur of Avalon (Jennie Larson), Ellegria (Michael Barisone), Everything is Possible (Marlies van Baalen, Edward Louis B (Mandy Julia Mannsmann), Ephredra (Nicole Uphoff/Eva Maria Sprehe), and Enzian (Mette Assouline).

In Germany 246 of his offspring are registered as competition horse. Ehrentanz sired four licensed sons, including Ehrenstolz, Expansion, and Excalibur of Avalon. He produced 11 state premium mares.
