Canadian team rider Tom Dvorak has lost his number one Grand Prix horse Viva's Salieri W, a 13-year old Hanoverian stallion by Viva Voltaire x Salieri. The chestnut stallion, nicknamed Socks, did not survive a colic attack.
Tom and Elllen Dvorak took on Viva's Salieri W as a four-year-old. Tom trained Viva's Salieri W from young horse level to Grand Prix. The pair represented Canada at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, MEX, where they won team silver and placed fourth individually with an average score of 75.190%.
In 2012, Viva's Salieri W transitioned into a Grand Prix mount for Tom. In 2014 the duo won the Grand Prix Special at the CDI-W at Palgrave in June and were second in the Grand Prix Special at the CDI3* in Lexington, KY earlier in the spring.
Viva's Salieri W was owned by Tom and Ellen Dvorak and Augustin and Christine Walch. They thank Dr. Alan Manning, Dr. Orlaith Cleary and the team at Milton Equine Hospital and Michele Hampshire at the Horse Limo for their efforts and support to save the stallion.
