Performance Sales International in Ankum on 7 - 8 December 2013 will once again be a popular meeting point for horse enthusiasts, investors, patrons, riders and friends of equestrian sports and breeding. And exactly this meeting point is always in the service of charity. “Riding against Hunger” for the benefit of the German Agro Action is such a good cause. To be more precise, it is the result of a common idea of Ullrich Kasselmann and Gudrun Bauer.

Almost two years ago, the organizers of the P.S.I. Auction and the publisher launched the project “Riding against Hunger”. The idea was hatched during a dinner and both Ullrich Kasselmann and Gudrun Bauer tend to immediately implement their plans. Since that time, money has been raised for this charity project at the different equestrian events: The international riders’ festival “Horses & Dreams” in Hagen a.T.W., the German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg and the “Tournament of Champions” in Münster have already hosted the initiative “Riding against Hunger” for the benefit of the German Agro Action. “Horse & Classic” in Schenefeld and “Cross Country” on the German Island of Rügen devoted themselves to this project.

Meanwhile, more than 270,000 euro have been raised at these big, international and national events. A huge and fantastic success to fight hunger around the world. Gudrun Bauer has been committed in the German Agro Action for a number of years, she assists, supervises and fosters projects in the poorest parts of the world.

“Riding against Hunger” – this will also be the motto of Ullrich Kasselmann and Paul Schockemöhle at the 34th Performance Sales International. In 2012, Gudrun Bauer has been honoured with the P.S.I. Award for her untiring efforts in the category “Media”. Federal Minister Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, the patron of the initiative “Riding against Hunger”, gave the laudation. The P.S.I. Awards are given each year to honour exceptional accomplishments, and they are a symbol of thanks for people who focus their energy and power on one goal – and it doesn’t matter whether the area of sports or humanitarian objectives are concerned.

Apart from Gudrun Bauer, the German dressage team, the Brazilian Dr. Jorge Ferreira da Roche – supporter of dressage in Brazil, the US and Europe – and the long-term “goldsmith” of the German show jumping team, Herbert Meyer, were honoured with the P.S.I. Award in 2012.

On the occasion of a festive P.S.I.-ball in Ankum, the awards will also be given in different categories in 2013. The awardees are the best kept secret. Only one thing is sure: Ullrich Kasselmann and Paul Schockemöhle will give the awards on December 7 in the evening in four categories: sport, supporter, media and lifetime achievement.
