German Olympic individual rider Anabel Balkenhol has been hired as trainer and dressage rider at the State Stud in Marbach, Germany. Balkenhol will call Marbach her new home base, from which she will operate her own show and training yard.

Anabel will be relocating up to eight horses to the historic yard Offenhausen, which is part of the state stud. The stable is based in Gomadingen.

Marbach and Balkenhol have already been working together for the past two years. Since the end of 2011, Anabel has been training the Marbach state stud owned stallion Diamond Star, which she competed at international shows in Munster and Lingen up to Intermediaire II level. Anabel will now get more horses to ride and she will assist in the training of the Marbach horses together with the other state stud riders.

"We are very happy to have attracted such a renowned rider and trainer of classical dressage for the Marbach state stud," said stud manager Dr. Astrid von Velsen-Zerweck. "The quality of the training of our riders and horses is more important today than ever. We hope to strengthen our team even further with an additional trainer for show jumping and eventing."

The 41-year old Anabel Balkenhol competed as individual for Germany at the 2012 Olympic Games. She also won team bronze at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
