The 5-year old Cassiopaya and the 6-year old Discovery won the L and M-level dressage horse tests at the 2013 Bundeschampionate Qualifier at equestrian centre Löckenhoff in Mettmann, Germany, on 8 May 2013. Four horses in total, all 6-year olds, were able to achieve the mandatory qualification score of 8.0 or higher to make it to Warendorf.
In the 5-year old division Janine Ebben and the Rhinelander bred mare Cassiopaya (by Cassini Boy Junior) surfaced at the top of the ranking with a 7.5 score. Ebben was also the runner-up with her Westfalian bred Don Romano (by Don Schufro) on 7.4.
In the 6-year old division professional dressage rider Heiner Schiergen reigned supreme on the Oldenburger branded Discovery (by Dimaggio). The duo scored a whopping 8.8 and was a league of their own. Laura Stigler and the Hanoverian bred Doubleyou W (by Don Romantic) finished second with 8.3, followed by Matthias Bouten on the Austrian owned Hanoverian Dante Delux (by Danone I) on 8.2 and Lydia Camp on the Oldenburg Sir Diamond (by Sir Donnerhall I) with 8.1.
