The renowned pinto Dutch warmblood stallion Art Deco passed away at age 30 on 26 February 2013. The RPSI, Oldenburg GOV and ISR approved stallion was the first pinto warmblood stallion in the USA to be approved into the main warmblood books.

"He has been an outstanding individual. He seemed to be in good health and today was fine, ate all his breakfast, hay and was acting like his good old self. I found him deceased when I went to do barn chores this evening. His passing seemed peaceful, I'm assuming a heart attack," said owner Elizabeth Hall.

Art Deco was botn in 1983 and was by Samber out of Zorba (by Trait d'Union x Floor x Rinko). Swedish born American Anne Gribbons discovered him in The Netherlands and imported the black and white pinto stallion into the U.S.A. Elizabeth Hall acquired him as a 4-year old in 1987.

Art Deco began his competition career in the U.S. in 1988 at the lower levels and made the transition to Prix St Georges level in 1990.  In 1993 Art Deco did his first tests at Intermediaire II level and he transitioned to Grand Prix in 1994.  Throughout his life Art Deco was trained and competed by riders such as James Koford, Kathy Whitehouse and James Houston.

"He was the basis of everything I have done with my horses and breeding program, I am heart broken, but am thankful that he live a long and happy life and that his passing was peaceful," Hall explained.
