The Norwegian Equestrian Federation has lined up and appointed all the necessary trainers for its teams and focus groups for 2013. Danish Thomas Larsen and Lars Rasmussen are the most recently assigned team trainers as Ulrik Sorensen has decided to resign.
Danish Grand Prix rider Thomas Dolleris Larsen was initially appointed as focus group trainer for senior riders, but his focal point has now changed to the younger age categories and he has now been appointed as Norwegian Junior and Young Riders team and focus group trainer.
"My two predecessing national coaches of the senior groups in Norway, Bjarne Nielsen and Leif Sørensen are still regularly coming to Norway to train. I didn't feel the need to function as third person to train the riders with two such competent coaches, who both have worked with the riders for a long time," Larsen told Ridehesten.
Larsen is not yet acquainted with the individual Norwegian youth riders but a meeting will be set up in January where the plans and strategies will be discussed. As of March 2013, Larsen hopes to start coaching the riders.
Norway's new pony team and focus group trainer Lars Rasmussen has already worked at the Norwegian Elite Sport Gymnasium from 1992 to 2005 where he coached Norway's best junior riders. Amongst his students are the show jumper Tony Andre Hansen, Christian Øien Anfinsen and Line Raaholt. Rasmussen is taking over from Danish Ulrik Sorensen, who has been the coach the past seven years, and who decided to resign.
Elizabeth Farbrot will be the focus group coach for the senior riders and team captain Marianne Heltzen is team trainer as well as focus group trainer of the Norwegian Grand Prix riders.
