Irish Grand Prix rider Judy Reynolds has returned to Hünxe, Germany this week after an eight month stint based with Jessica Kürten in France. Reynolds is now sharing a yard with Bertram Allen, a member of Ireland's 2012 European Gold Medal Junior Show Jumping team.
Allen’s stables are in the vicinity of Reynolds' long-time trainer Johann Hinnemann, who lives at Krusterhof in Voerde, Germany, where Judy was based for many years.
"This was Jessica’s place before she sold it to the Allen family and the yard is naturally divided into two parts,” Reynolds said about her return to Germany. "Bretram and I work well together and I will be helping him with his flat work."
Of her time with Kürten in Ferrieres-en-Brie near Paris, Judy commented "I really enjoyed the time I worked with Jessica and Edouard de Rothschild. Jessica is an amazing rider and we had a lot of fun working together, but an exciting opportunity came up to start my own training stables in Germany and I couldn’t possibly turn it down. I wish her the very best of luck with her horses and will be following the results closely!"
Reynolds coached her client, Palestinian Grand Prix rider Christian Brühe, at last weekend's CDI Salzburg in Austria. “Christian will have four horses in the yard along with five of mine,” she explained.
A native of Kilteel, Co Kildare, Reynolds recently sold her top horse Remember to Dutch rider Gregor Tacx. Judy will compete on the international circuit next year at big tour level with the 10-year-old Jazz gelding Vancouver and on the small tour with her new horse, the 8-year-old Dutch bred gelding Zigal.
