The young Hanoverian show jumper Anton became the top priced horse of the 2012 Summer Auction in Verden on 20-21 July 2012. The top-priced future dressage prospect was Betty. Seventy-five Hanoverian riding horses were sold for an average price of 13,460 euro and 46 of them will leave Germany.
The bay Anton by Argentinus x Landadel (breeder and exhibitor: Hermann Hölscher, Gehrde) comes from a successful dam line: ten full and half siblings are successful in show jumping courses. A faithful Hanoverian auction customer from Great Britain recognized his potential and purchased the athlete for 33,000 euro.
Betty by Baroncelli x Sherwood (breeder and exhibitor: Heinz Koppelmann, Drochtersen) was the top priced dressage horse. The appealing four-year-old mare conquered everybody's heart and was knocked down by auctioneer Friedrich-Wilhelm Isernhagen to Danish customers for 28,000 euro.
Auction manager Jörg-Wilhelm Wegener happily announced: "This was an excellent auction. We had quite a lot of top horses sold at excellent prices with a high percentage of foreign sales. The whole team did an excellent job."
18 of the 75 offered Hanoverian horses were sold at prices ranging between 11,000 and 14,999 euro. More than 15,000 euro was paid for 25 Hanoverians. 29 horses will stay in Germany, 46 were sold abroad. The People's Republic of China purchased nine horses, the largest contingent, followed by Denmark, France and Switzerland with each four purchases.
The next auction of the Hannoveraner Verband will be held in approx. four weeks. 287 top-quality foals and 19 broodmares will be put up for auction at the 38th Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction from August 17 to 19.
