Norwegian young rider team member Camilla Christensen has lost her top horse Special,
which was euthanized on 26 January 2012 due to health issues caused by a severe heart condition.

Christensen's 14-year old bay gelding Special (whose pedigree is unknown) became ill in October 2011 and his condition worsened over the next few months. Despite veterinary care it was decided in the best interest of the horse to put him down.

"It is terribly difficult, painful and sad, but it is a decision and a responsibility I have to take," Christensen told the Norwegian equestrian site Dressur Sa Klart. "Special taught me so much and in a short time frame he made me experience so much."

Coached by Gunn Skovolt, the 18-year old Camilla and Special were members of the Norwegian Young Riders' Team that competed at the 2011 Nordic Baltic and 2011 European Championships. The Norwegian team finished 9th at the 2011 Europeans in Broholm, Denmark. In 2010 she was member of the Junior Riders team which earned bronze at the Nordic Baltic Championships.
