Preparations 2011 European JR/YR Championships in Full Swing

With 15 days to go until the 2011 European Junior and Young Riders Championships in Broholm, Denmark, the last preperations for this huge event -- for the first time on Danish soil -- are in full swing.

Busy programme

Wednesday morning at 8 am it´s time for the 1st part of the Team Championships for Young Riders followed by the Team Championships for Juniors at 1 pm. The first medals will be handed out on Thursday after the 2nd part of the Team Championships.

Sunday afternoon the final round of the individual championships will take place followed by a prize giving ceremony at 3 pm. At the same time the Danish organisation Dressurens Venner (Friends of Dressage) will present their Classic Style Award. The prize will be handed out by HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark

Strong group of European favourites

19 nations will be represented at Broholm

Several of the medalists from 2010 are back this year to defend their titles. Double silver medal winning young rider Sanneke Rothenberger, as well as double gold medal winning junior rider Charlott-Maria Schurmann (now a YR) have announced their participation.

Danish junior rider Nanna Merrald has had a very good year competitionwise. She won at the CDIO Saumur and last weekend became Nordic Baltic Junior Riders Champion. Junior rider Danielle Houstvast, who was a bronze medalist in 2010, will also be in Broholm in the Young Riders division. 

Double silver junior medalist of 2010, now young rider Cathrine Dufour, is in full training and has confidence in the young rider tests. She will be on the Danish team for Broholm. Last weekend she won silver at the Nordic Baltic Championships in Middelfart, Denmark.
