The 8-year old liver chestnut Westfalian gelding Alibaba became the best seller of the 2011 NRW Summer auction of Westfalian sport horses in Munster-Handorf on Sunday 5 June 2011. The Abanos x Lanciano x Donnerschlag, which was owned by Belgian dressage rider Michel Toussaint, sold for 52,000 euro.
The average price for a young sport horse at this auction was 11,245 euro. Fourteen horses sold abroad and both Great Britain and Uzbekistan will be importing five each.
The second most expensive horse was Roosevelt, a 3-year old bay gelding by Rock Forever x Pilot x Fatianus. He sold for 31,000 euro. There was also some good bidding for Floriano, a 3-year old dark bay gelding by Florestan I x Grundstein x Road House xx. This young dressage star sold for 26,000 euro.
One dressage pony was sold at this auction. Dayniera, a 5-year old dark bay mare by Der Feine Lord x Durello, sold for 6,500 euro.
