The International Dressage Trainers Club held its annual members meeting in Versailles, France, on 3 - 4 April 2011. Approximately 50 members and their partners enjoyed a performance by the Academie du Spectacle Equestre at the Royal Stables of Versailles and a dinner cruise on the Seine.
In addition to an excellent discussion regarding the most pressing issues facing the sport, the group also heard presentations regarding technologies that could be useful for dressage by Sandie Chambers of Equestrian Edge and Adrien Baquet of Dartfish. Trond Asmyr, FEI Director of Dressage, updated the group on the FEI focus for dressage in 2011.
The majority of the second day of the meeting were practical sessions when the members shared opinions regarding the training of various demonstration horses and riders. Participating riders were Julie Pellerin, Sarah Kcruch, Odile van Doorn, Catherine Henriquet, Jessica Michel, and Guillaume Recoing. Carlos Pinto, Marc Boblet, Marina Caplain Saint-Andre and Hans Heinrich Meyer zu Strohe were the participating trainers.
Current board members of the IDTC are David Hunt (GBR) as president, Kenneth Dyrby (USA), Johann Hinnemann (GER), Sjef Janssen (NED), Dane Rawlins (GBR), and Andrzej Salacki (POL).
The IDTC represents the interests of the international trainers towards the Federation Equestre International (FEI). The FEI has officially recognized the IDTC, and the Club is regularly invited for hearings by the Dressage Committee of the FEI.
The IDTC was founded by the late Herman Duckeck from Denmark. Linda Keenan is the current executive administrator.
