Mary Hanna's 2009 Australian Young Horse Champion Shiraz Black (by Sandro Hit x Donnerhall x Martinez) has been flown to sunny California to be prepared for Grand Prix by WEG bronze medallist Steffen Peters.

The Australian Horse Magazine reported the news of Shiraz Black's relocation from down under to California. Mary had the idea when she saw Steffen riding Shiraz Black at Equitana in November last year: “Steffen just seemed to click with him at Equitana," she told The Horse Magazine. "I really love the way Steffen trains and I want to keep everything as consistent as I can, which is difficult when he lives in America and I live in Australia. There was a charter flight that only goes once a year that’s a relatively safe and quick trip, so even though Shiraz Black still had some mares to serve, we decided to bite the bullet and say let’s do it.”

The talented Sandro Hit stallion arrived at Steffen’s barn in San Diego on 3 February 2011. “He’ll train there with Steffen until the next stud season and I hope to get over there and do some training as well. I would like Steffen to do a few shows on him if he can,” said Hanna.
