Landgestut Marbach's 5-year old licensed Trakehner stallion Kronprinz has been humanely put down on 21 August 2010 due to an irrecoverable tendon injury. The black stallion was by Hohenstein x Sixtus.

"We have been really struck by the loss of Kronprinz," said Astrid von Velsen-Zerweck, manager at Marbach. "He was one of the most beloved stallions here with a big future in the competition ring as well as a breeding stallion."

Trained by Irina Oberthur, Kronprinz was selected to compete at the 2010 Bundeschampionate. The black stallion was a premium stallion at the 2007 Trakehner Licensing and sold to Marbach for 110,000 euro.  He was bred by Bernd Berge and descended from the famous Kassandra damline.
