Addington CDI has been chosen as Hiscox Artemis’ first international show of the 2010 season. This follows a successful season last year, which culminated in the talented horse winning a series of classes including Germany’s coveted Kampmann Final, designed to identify young, exciting grand prix horses.

The 11-year old gelding is being carefully and progressively produced by his rider, triple Olympian Richard Davison. Davison comments: “We’re not aiming for the World Equestrian Games. This year, we are consolidating his training and contesting a few select CDIs throughout the summer months. Then he will contest the winter World Cup series in preparation for next year’s European events, culminating, of course, with the Olympics the year after.”

It is refreshing to learn of experienced professionals like Davison who put their horse’s optimum plan before their own ambitions but as Davison insists “the goal with Hiscox Artemis has always been the Olympics on home ground” and he is keeping his eye well and truly on this target.

In his last international outing, the charismatic ‘pocket-rocket’ scored a whopping 75.15% at the London Olympia World Cup qualifier. His talent for piaffe and passage is clear to all but Davison has been concentrating on his overall development, commenting: “He has no single weakness and has scored 8s and 9s in every single movement. Now I want to achieve it all in the same test.”

Hiscox Artemis is owned by the Countess of Derby, famous for her family’s connection with the classic horse race, and John Dodd.  Hiscox, the specialist insurer, is the proud sponsor of Hiscox Artemis and has committed to backing Davison and the horse for the next three years.
