It was cold during the early afternoon in Neumunster, but the visitors poured onto the Holstenhallen property in droves. The reason: the 47th International Trakehner Stallion Licensing was opened with the jog for the young aspirants outside on the pavement.
59 two-and-a-half year old stallions presented themselves to the approval committee led by breeding manager Lars Gehrmann. Many of them are stitched with fantastic genetics.
Imperio, the bronze medal winner at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses 2009, has two sons in the running and the jumping wonder Hirtentanz will be celebrating his breeding debut in Neumunster, also with two of his sons being presented.
The highly successful Kaiserdom and Kaiserkult, the Gribaldi son Easy Game, winning stallion Herzensdieb or Perechlest, winner under Ulla Salzgeber in the dressage ring, are sires who are attracting attention with their first crop of offspring in Neumunster.
After the presentation on the hard ground the stallions will continue Friday morning with free jumping and later in the day the potential sires will have to pass the test in the triangle.
Also included in the programme of the Trakehner Stallion Licensing are the auctions for the riding horses, mares and foals. The first presentation of the riding horses and mares will take place in the early evening in the Holstenhallen. Of course the young talents can also be tested under saddle.
