Austrian former Olympic dressage champion Sissy Max-Theurer has purchased the legendary German breeding station Gestüt Vorwerk in Cappeln.

Home to such stallions as Rubinstein, Rohdiamant, Royal Diamond, Relevant and youngsters Statesman and Dylano, Gestüt Vorwerk was in search of investors as owner Gudula Vorwerk-Happ has no children who could take over the stud.

The Austrian Sissy Max-Theurer has been building up a large collection of breeding stallions (Sternenfanger, Fackeltanz, Rosandro, etc) as well as brood mares and saw potential in Gestüt Vorwerk as a station. A long term exploitation concept, concurring with the traditional management of Vorwerk, is being prepared at the moment.

"For long we have wondered what would happen with Gestüt Vorwerk as we don't have any heirs," Gudula Vorwerk said. "When we heard that Sissy Max-Theurer was looking for a facility for her brood mares, we offered the stud to her. We've had a good contact for more than thirty years. Two examples are Sissy's champion horse Mon Cherie which descends from More Magic xx, a stallion that stood at stud here, and her own bred Augustin OLD out of a Rohdiamant dam

Sissy Max-Theurer has planned on stationing her brood mares at Gestüt Vorwerk. "I had been looking for a possibility to gather all my brood mares at one facility. At the moment they are all spread out at different stables and I wanted to have them all at one stable in south Oldenburg. It is fantastic that I now got the chance to acquire the gorgeous, tradition filled stud farm in Cappeln, even though the station is too big for what I have intended to do with it. In Cappeln, my horses will get the best care and the preservation of this station is close to my heart. We're still negotiation on the exploitation."
