2009 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing

The Danish Warmblood Spring Auction takes place Saturday 7 March at 4pm and is an important part of the annual Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing at the Messecenter in Herning, Denmark, March 5-8 2009. The auction is a huge draw to the public.

Video footage of the 25 horses and 2 ponies offered for sale can be viewed by visiting the Danish Warmblood website where thousands of people from 20+ countries have already viewed the horses.

This year’s collection consists of 15 three-year-old colts from the Danish Warmblood licensing lot, ten young riding horses of which five are showing in the Young Horse Championship in Herning, and two ponies. The quality of this collection is of a higher standard than last year, says the auction committee.

An interesting collection

The auction collection consists mainly of dressage horses but also a number of interesting jumping horses. If you are looking for a jumper, a dressage horse, or a riding pony you will be able to find the right match at the Spring Auction.

One of the three-year-old colts is Jakas Don Lux, previously purchased through the Danish Warmblood Foal Auction at Vilhelmsborg. This colt is by Blue Hors Don Romantic with Lauries Crusador xx as his dam sire, and his full sister Jakas Lucienne became best dressage filly at the Danish Warmblood Elite Show and the most expensive filly ever sold at any Danish Warmblood Foal Auction.

Among the three-year-old colts you will also find Aagaardens Heartland by Heartbeat / A’Khan Z, who is a strikingly handsome and modern jumping prospect with great capacity and overview, says the auction committee.

The five-year-old jumper French Touch, who has qualified for the Young Horse Championship by scoring 867.5 points in jumping, is also among the auction horses. He is by the international jumping sire Equest Carnute and with yet another famous Frenchman as his dam sire, the stallion I Love You. The grand dam of French Touch is Wincett who is actually also the dam of elite sire Willemoes, now in the US.

Diablo K by Diamond Hit / Alibi is a well-schooled six-year-old dressage gelding, who can also be acquired at the auction. Diablo K descends from a performance-strong dam line and he has shown at the Young Horse Dressage Championships.

At the Spring Auction you will also be able to purchase a talented pony as the beautiful grey mare Hedevangs Aicha by Falco / Bashkan is offered for sale. This mare was awarded Gold Medal at the grading and became the 2007 Pony Mare of the Year scoring 10’s for type as well as for movement. The following year she took part in the Pony Championship in dressage and obtained several 9’s.

Purchasing a horse over the phone

The collection of auction horses can be viewed on the Danish Warmblood websitewww.varmblod.dk, where you can also follow the entire auction by live streaming. This provides the ultimate conditions for bidding on the horses over the telephone.

Bidding over the phone must be agreed on prior to the auction. You can enter into an agreement by contacting Ms. Charlotte Steen Larsen, Danish Warmblood by calling +45 8747 5400 or e-mail:auktion@varmblod.dk

Presentation of auction horses and evaluation of x-rays

In order to provide the buyers with the best possible conditions of assessing the auction horses, they will be shown on the lunge. It will also be possible to arrange a test ride for horses already working under saddle.

A request to have a horse presented must be made to the auction committee in Herning no later than 11.00 am on the day of the auction. Presentation of stallions on the lunge will take place Saturday in Building A2 between 12.30 pm and 13.30 pm.

All auction horses have been categorized in X-ray groups 1 or 2. There will also be an evaluation of the X-rays by the veterinary surgeon Hans Schougaard, which will take place in the Auction Secretariat on Saturday from 10.00 am to 14.00 pm.
