Each year, the KWPN society proclaims the KWPN Horse of the Year at the annual stallion licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. This year the Horse of the Year will be announced on Saturday February 2, 2008.

The breeder of the winning horse will receive the Nimmerdor Trophy and the owner a replica.

Nine Dutch warmblood horses which have excellent at high performance level have been nominated. "The KWPN Horse of the Year is not the horse which has won the most euros or the most Grand Prixs or which one has been most on television. The KWPN Horse of the Year 2007 will be the horse that is most loved by KWPN enthusiasts," the KWPN office stated.

Three dressage horses out of nine have been nominated for the short list of KWPN Horse of the Year: Dutch European team gold medallist Exquis Nadine (by Trakehner stallion Partout), Anky van Grunsven's second Grand Prix horse Painted Black (by Trakehner stallion Gribaldi) and Patrik Kittel's Grand Prix horse Pandoer (Guelderland bred by Recruut)

The other nominees are: Authentic, Hickstead, Nirmette, Okidoki, Sunlight, and Udalburga.
