1999 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

Part of the Hilltop Farm August Newsletter:

Del Piero, our Hannoverian stallion owned in partnership with Hengststation Pape, is currently the most successful young Hannoverian in the world.

Backing up to his late 1998 German National Championship title, Del Piero has just become the Reserve Champion of the International World Breeders Championships for 6-year olds. Held in conjunction with the 1999 European Championships, in Arnheim, Holland, July 1-4, this world breeders' championships established a high caliber and promises to remain a must-see event on the calendar.

Del Piero proved to be extremely consistent over all three phases of the event, performing before packed stands of over 20,000 spectators.  The field of over 60 horses was narrowed down to the final 15 for Sunday's final day of competition, using a new FEI dressage test for 6-year olds.  The winner of the Championships was an Oldenburg stallion, Sandro Hit, by Sandro Song.

In his first two years of production, foals by DelPiero have been highly regarded by both the german breeding officials and the breeding public. They are showing a good consistency in modern, elegant type; great natural balance; and elastic, efficient movements.  Hilltop has selected a number of Del Piero foals, each with impressive pedigrees, to import in the spring of the year 2000.  Contact Scott or Richard for more information on this exciting opportunity to access DelPiero, one of the world's most promising young stallions, or any of the other exceptional stallions of Hengststation Pape: Davignon, Regazzoni, A Jungle Prince, and Bergamon.

Del Piero will be featured in our upcoming article bundle of the 1999 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses
