Australians Axel Renz and Kerrie Mann have decided to sell their horse stud business, Bloomfield Farm Warmblood stud in Crossover, Gippsland, Victoria.
Dressage Horse Breeding
Bloomfield Farm was one of the few specialised Australian dressage horse breeders in the country. They stood the stallions Fürst Love (by Furst Heinrich x Sandro Hit) and Versace (by Vivaldi x Ferro) and imported the Oldenburg licensing champion Royal Hit.
German born Renz partnered with Australian Renz in establishing and managing the stud. They bred around 20 - foals a year working with sires such as Royal Hit, Don Davidoff, Zack, Argentinus, Jazz, Brentano II and Sir Donnerhall. They imported mares from Germany and The Netherlands and their young horses were professionally trained and sold.
From the early 2010s onward, Bloomfield developed a reputation for its annual auctions, where buyers could inspect foals, young horses and ridden prospects.
Success in Sport
Bloomfield hit the international spotlight with horses such as Bloomfield Royal Winston (Vay Snyman and Zali Millis), Bloomfield Vegas (Janet Seccull), Bloomfield Sekuona (Justine Greer), Bloomfield Royalist (Jayden Brown), Bloomfield Sorrento (Harvey Besley)
Janet Seccull and Bloomfield Valentini (by Versace x Brentano II x Western Star) won silver at the 2022 Australian Young Horse Championships.
The End of An Era
On 22 July 2026 Renz and Mann have announced they sold their business.
"This marks the end of a very special chapter in our lives," the owners stated. "It has been a privilege to breed, raise, and work with so many exceptional horses, and we will always cherish the relationships and memories that have been created along the way."
The stud will continue under new ownership.
"The new owners are committed to carrying the business forward and are currently establishing operations at a new location," said Renz. "While they are not yet ready to make a formal introduction, we can assure you that they share a genuine passion for the industry and are excited about the future."
