Dutch young rider Carmen Coronel has taken over the reins of Imke Schellekens-Bartels' Grand Prix horse Honoré.
Honoré is a 14-year old KWPN gelding by Jazz out of Toscana (by Krack C x Oracle), bred by Tineke Bartels and VCG Horses.
Imke's Come Back Horse
The chestnut gelding was Imke's come back horse after the sale of Toots and her shift in focus on the Dutch team trainer position for children and ponies. Six years Imke stayed away from competition.
Honoré was home trained by Imke's mom Tineke Bartels, but assistant Lars op 't Hoog showed him nationally as a youngster. Imke took over the ride in 2020. She premiered him at the 2021 CDI Opglabbeek and showed him in two more CDI's in Compiegne and Leeuwarden until October 2022 after which she focused on consolidating the big tour moves on him. Imke resigned from her youth team coaching position at the end of 2023.
After ten years of not riding a Grand Prix test, Imke rode down the international Grand Prix centerline again at CDI Tolbert on 10 - 13 April 2025. They scored 65.565% in the Grand Prix (15th) and 73.935% in the Kur (3rd).
After Tolbert the pair competed in four further CDI's: Compiegne (Grand Prix score 57.826%), Leeuwarden (64.087%), Kronenberg Indoor (65,000%) and lastly the 2026 CDI Lier Indoor, where they retired.
New Rider for Honoré

"After Imke's decision to no longer compete Honoré at Grand Prix level, Carmen has taken over the reins and made her show debut yesterday," Bartels posted. "Carmen and Honoré rode the ZZ-licht class and won the test with a super score of 74,10% and even had a 10 on their sheet. Their next step is that they are going to show at Young Riders level. A nice new combination."
