Equestrian Canada announced the appointment of former Spanish team rider Jordi Domingo Coll as Technical Advisor for Dressage.

Competition and Training Experience

A respected international competitor and accomplished high-performance leader, Jordi Domingo Coll (ESP) brings extensive experience from the global dressage arena. Representing Spain at the highest levels of the sport, he has competed at the Olympic Games, multiple FEI European Dressage Championships, and numerous FEI Nations Cup™ events, consistently delivering competitive performances at the Grand Prix level.

In addition to his achievements in the arena, Jordi has built a distinguished career as both a coach and trainer, successfully developing and producing multiple horses from the young horse stages through to international Grand Prix competition. He is also a long-time trainer of Canadian Olympian Naima Moreira Laliberté (alongside Ashley Holzer).

This dual perspective provides him with a comprehensive and practical understanding of the full performance pathway, encompassing long-term horse development, athlete progression, and the demands of championship preparation. His experience positions him to effectively support combinations with a clear focus on sustainable success and excellence at the highest level of the sport.

In his role as Technical Advisor Jordi will lead the strategic direction of Canada’s dressage high-performance program. His mandate includes guiding athlete and horse development, supporting performance planning, advising on team selection processes and fostering a cohesive, transparent, and accountable high-performance culture.

“I am honoured and excited to join Equestrian Canada in this role and to be part of a team with great potential,” said Jordi. “My focus is on building a pathway that supports athletes and horses, aiming for consistent progression towards international success. I look forward working together with riders, owners, coaches and support teams to create a strong, transparent high-performance environment.”

Key Compenent

A key component of Jordi’s vision is the integration of structured Individual Performance Plans (IPPs), developed in collaboration with athletes, personal coaches, and support teams. His philosophy prioritizes both immediate performance outcomes and the long-term progression of combinations through the international levels, with an emphasis on producing consistent, championship-ready performances.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Jordi into this role and to working closely with him to continue strengthening our high-performance program,” said Christine Peters, Senior Manager, Dressage at Equestrian Canada. “His experience and perspective will be instrumental as we build a strong, sustainable pathway that supports our athletes and horses in their development, and positions Canadian combinations for long-term success on the global stage.”

Strategy Towards L.A.

The addition of the Technical Advisor, Dressage was an identified gap in Equestrian Canada’s programming for dressage, and having experienced coaching and technical leadership is critical to building the sport. “Jordi brings a vast amount of experience and technical knowledge to our Dressage program,” said James Hood, Director of High Performance. “All of which will help to build Canada’s strategy towards Los Angles 2028 and Brisbane 2032. The planning and programming we build today, is what will support and shape our performance for the future.”

This appointment reflects Equestrian Canada’s ongoing commitment to excellence in sport performance and to building a strong, transparent, and sustainable pathway for Canadian dressage athletes at all levels of the high-performance system.
