Belgian based Moldovan Grand Prix rider Tatiana Antonenco can't seem to stop the "bad juju" and has broken yet another bone in a freak accident in the barn.

The 37-year old "Tanya" Antonenco fractured her fibula on 8 May 2026 when she was walking a breeding mare which slipped and fell on her leg.

"My day didn't end up as planned," Tanya shared, disclosing to Eurodressage that "I have broken many bones last two years."

Bad Juju

She explained that she first sustained a boxer's fracture in her hand on a trip trying a horse for sale. "A few months later I had a broken hand, because I tripped and a horse stepped on my hand." This fracture required two surgeries. The next accident that followed was when a horse kicked her in the face which caused a lip detachment from the skull.

Broken fibula
For Tanya it was also a very said goodbye to her 18-year old dog ChiCh in March. "My heart is broken too," she added.  In an attempt to stay optimistic, she joked, "I break more bones from bringing horses from the paddock, then riding."

Antonenco began her international dressage career in 2012 at the Balkan Championships in Greece, on small tour horse Tavares. She returned to the Balkan Games in 2013 with Tavares and rode the Games in 2015 on Polygraf (by Febo x Dragun). Tavares took her into the Grand Prix ring in 2014. She showed him more actively at Grand prix level between 2017 and 2019.

In 2021 she began competing Helsinki (by Bojengel x Jazz) and in 2023 Double Dutch (by Jazz x Wisconsin) joined her string.  Helsinki went on to become a Children schoolmaster for Tanya's Turkish student Asya Yildiz. In 2024 Tanya briefly tried to qualify for the Olympics on Alisa Glinka's Aachen and Abercrombie but in the end Glinka was able to go to Paris herself. That same year she showed a new Grand Prix horse internationally, I-Wonder (by Bojengel x Tokyo). Antonenco's last CDI was in Kronenberg in November 2025 on Double Dutch.
