Para rider Louise Etzner Jakobsson, Grand Prix horse Invoice, and dressage trainer Louisa Nathhorst were honoured at the 2025 Swedish Riders Gala at Nalen in Stockholm on Wednesday 26 November 2025.
The Swedish Equestrian Federation annually hosts this Gala and this year it took place for the 20th time. Nine different categories of recognition for awards make up the gala evening. This year three dressage personalities were put in the spotlight.
Performance of the Year: Louise Etzner Jakobsson
The 65-year old para dressage rider Louise Etzner Jakobsson won gold at the 2025 European Para Championships this summer and was now the winner in the "performance of the year" category.
"Winning the European Championship gold means everything to me," she said at the gala. "It is proof that all the hard work you put in also pays off. But it is also proof that I have such a great collaboration with my horse and the whole team; everything from the trainer, groom, driver, family and the association who believe in me and give me support."
Other nominees in the category of performance of the year were the national show jumping team for their win in Falsterbo and the national dressage team for a third place in the Nations Cup in Aachen.
Horse of the Year: Invoice
In the Horse of the Year category, the vaulting horse Galantic and a team of four competed, but it was the dressage horse Invoice who took home the award. Invoice, ridden by Mia von Essen, is the highest-ranked dressage horse in Sweden and tenth in the world. – I have followed them for many years, it is an incredibly sensitive horse that has developed enormously together with Mia and we have not seen the end yet, says dressage national captain Stefan Jansson
Honorary Award for Nathhorst
Dressage icon Louise Lussan Nathhorst, with over 40 years of career as a world-class rider, trainer and national coach for Swedish dressage, was praised with a standing ovation and the honorary prize. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she was part of the team that won bronze. Now Lussan is aiming for Los Angeles - even if this time she stays on the ground.
"We have fantastic riders but we will have to qualify first," said Nathhorst. "It is an honour to help such talented riders. I am proud and happy about it."
Not dressage rider Linnea Holmgren, but eventer Amanda Andersson won the title of "Comet of the Year."
