Maradonna, a renowned and celebrated Oldenburg broodmare and stallion producer, has passed away on 7 October 2025. She was 27 years old.
Maradonna was a 1998 born Oldenburg mare by Donnerhall out of Marella (by Classiker x Weltmeister). She was bred by the late Georg Sieverding.
Stallion Producer
Maradonna became third placed in the 2001 Oldenburg Elite Mare Show in Rastede.
Maradonna produced the Oldenburg Licensing Champion Furstenball (by Furst Heinrich) as well as licensed stallions Desiderio (by Dimaggio) and Winehouse (by Wynton).
She produced Charlotte Dujardin's internationally competed small tour horse Mount St. John VIP (by Vivaldi), owned by Emma Blundell. VIP is now a successful broodmare at Mount St. John. Maradonna is produced Malina S (by Floricello), who produced 2025 DSP reserve licensing champion For Romeo (by For Romance).
She also foaled Bello Oriente (by Belissimo M), who competed at international FEI level under Christer and Michelle Egerstrom.
Sad Passing
Maradonna stamped Georg Sieverding's breeding programme. She will be greatly missed.
"Maradonna wasn't just an elite mare, Maradonna was a heart horse," the Sieverding family announced. "She accompanied Paul and Nina since she was little and was always there for them. Besides, she has always been the heart horse of Grandpa George and Grandma Martha. Every horse loved Maradonna, whether the foals who played with her or the other grandmas who loved to cuddle with her. Maradonna liked to scare other horses even when in the trailer. But most of all she loved her hay and the grass in the pasture because eating was her biggest hobby. We remember Maradonna every day and look forward to the new descendants who can be attributed to her in 2,3,4 generations. In the end, all we have is left to say is a huge thank you..."
