2022 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships

The 3-year old Spumante VH, the 4-year old Skyline to B, the 5-year old Buskhagas Ramayana, the 6-year old Diploid, and the 7-year old Fontanell became the winners of their respective divisions at the 2022 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championship in Flyinge on 28 September - 2 October 2022.

The SWB Equestrian Days in Flyinge feature an action-packed programme with young horse classes in show jumping and dressage as well as the annual Swedish Warmblood elite foal auction. The 4-year old dressage horse class is the crowd magnet as a guest judge rider provides public commentary after having ridden the highest ranked horses to test their rideability and potential.

3-YO: Spumante VH

In the 3-year old division professional Sandra Sterntorp topped the board on the Swedish warmblood Spumante VH (by Springbank II x Akribori), who is bred and owned by Tobias Hansson of Vastra Hoby. Dressage judges Susanne Rudholm, Christop Hess, and Christina Olsson rewarded the mare with a total of 8.82 points. She received 8.8 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8.8 for balance and suppleness and 9 for general impression.

It was a double whammy for Vastra Hoby as they also took home the reserve champion's title. Australian Rianna Percy piloted the Swedish stallion Knockando (by Franklin x De Niro) to a silver medal with 8.76 points. The stallion got 7.2 for walk, 9 for trot, 10 for canter, 8.7 for suppleness and 8.9 for general impression.

Caroline Bore tied in second place on the same total score of 8.76 points with Petra Wittzall's mare Ester (by Total Hope x L'Acteur). This mare got 8.4 for walk, 8.6 for trot, 9 for canter, and 8.9 for suppleness and general impresion.

4-YO: Skyline to Be

The popular 4-year old division was won by Carl Hedin aboard his own Swedish bred and Oldenburg licensed stallion Skyline to B (by Blue Hors St. Schufro x Ampere). bred by Maria Rasmusson, the long-legged dark bay stallion tied in first place in the first round with 89.800 points, receiving 8.3 for walk, 9 for trot, 9.4 for canter, 9 for suppleness and 9.2 for general impression, but test rider Cathrine Dufour rewarded Skyline to B a 10 for rideability and 9.9 for potential, which made the stallion the overall winer with 94.650 points. Skyline to B has been standing at stud in Germany this year.

The reserve champion was Mia Runesson aboard the Swedish stallion Rosebank VH (by Revolution x Dalwhinnie), bred and owned by Vastra Hoby Stutteri. Rosebank tied in first place in the first round with 8.4 for walk, 8.9 for trot, 9 for canter, 9.4 for suppleness and 9.2 for general impression, but Dufour put him fourth in the test ridden round with 9.9 for rideability and 9.8 for potential. The chestnut was second with a total of 94.150 points.

The bronze medal went to Martin Umaerus aboard the Swedish stallion Oneofakind OM (by Total Hope x Blue Hors Zack). The dark bay was 9th in the first round with 8.5 for walk and canter, 8.2 for trot and suppleness and 8.5 for general impression, but he made a big surge on the board in the second round when Dufour rewarded the stallion with 10 for rideability and 9.8 for potential. He totalled 91.400 points for third place.

5-YO: Buskhagas Ramayana

Swedish young rider team member Linnea Holmgren had a fabulous show year in 2022, representing her country at the 2022 European Young Riders Championships and 2022 World Young Horse Championships. Her young horse partner in crime is Swedish bred Buskhagas Ramayana (by Revolution x Del Piero) and this horse granted her the national young horse title in Flyinge. The pair won the 5-year old final with 90.40 points, scoring 9.2 for walk, 8.8 for trot, 9.5 for canter, 8.5 for suppleness and 9.2 for perspective.

The silver went to Mikaela Alderin on Hans Danielsson's Swedish mare Emmylou (by Furstenball x Emmerton) with 86.400 points. This chestnut, who also competed in Ermelo, got 8.8 for walk, 8.6 for trot, 8.5 for canter and suppleness and 8.8 for general impression.

Mia Runesson and WCYH participant Glasgow (by Grand Galaxy Win x Figaro R) picked up the bronze with 85.200 points. The black stallion, bred at Gransbo stuteri, scored 8.5 for walk, 8.7 for trot, 8.6 for canter, 8.3 for suppleness and 8.5 for perspective.

6-YO: Diploid

Vendela Eriksdotter Rubin had a similar stellar season as Linnea Holmgren, piloting the Swedish gelding Diploid (by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x Topaasch) into the final at the 2022 World Young Horse Championships, followed by the title and gold medal at the 2022 Swedish Young Horse Championships. The 6-year old gelding, bred by veterinarian Lena Nystrom and owned by Stockholm Ridsport, scored a winning 85.400 points with 7.8 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.8 for canter, 8.3 for suppleness and 8.8 for perspective.

Matilda Aldrin and the Swedish gelding Allanzo TH (by Blue Hors Zack x Donnerhall) were the runners-up with 82.700 points. The chestnut gelding, bred by Agneta Herslow, received 8 for walk, 8.8 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8 for suppleness and 8.3 for perspective.

Maj-Christin Ehnberg and the Swedish gelding Vretas Van JB (by Van Vivaldi x First Wish) slotted in third with 78.800 points. Bred by Linda Backstrom and owned by the rider; the dark bay gelding got 7.8 for walk, 7.5 for trot, 8.2 for canter, 7.9 for submission and 8 for perspective.

7-YO: Fontanell

Ten combinations competed in the finals for 7-year olds and it turned out to be a double whammy for breeder Lena Nystrom. Her gelding Fontanell (by Furstenball x Ampere), now owned by rider Anita Roslund, topped the board and won the title with 80.372 points. The dark bay got 8.4 for walk, 8.9 for trot, 9.3 for canter, 9 for submission and 9.2 for perspective. The pair also got 71.143% as technical score.

Minna Telde and Gustaf Johansson's stallion Dantes Vincero GJ (by Dante Weltino x Chapman) finished with silver on 77.615 points. The dark bay received 7.8 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.8 for canter, 8.2 for submission and 8.6 for perspective, in addition to a 71.929 technical score.

Maria Eriksson and Benito SC (by Benetton Dream x Troll) ranked third with 76.115 points. Bred by Carina Edin and Stiven Wiklund and owned by the rider, the chestnut got 7.7 for walk, 8.3 for trot, 8.6 for canter, 8.1 for submission and 8.2 for general impression. For the technical score they got 70.429%.
