It has become a double whammy for the Belgian dressage family of Wim and Jorinde Verwimp. Both Grand Prix riders are now sidelined with an injury.

At the end of February 2020, Wim Verwimp sustained a complicated fracture of his shoulder, falling of a ladder when he tried to fix some roof tiles that have shifted after Storm Dennis passed over the country. Wim had to be operated on and has shoulder was stabilized with screws. The ever optimistic Verwimp then went on to manage 2020 CDI Lier at the beginning of March with his shoulder in a sling.

This week, his daughter Jorinde Verwimp tore the ligaments in her foot in silly, freak accident. She can't ride for two weeks.

"I made a stupid fall," Verwimp explained. "The people here in the barn are now riding my horses."

Jorinde recently made her come back to the Grand Prix arena aboard the 13-year old Rhinelander gelding Cape Town (by Conteur x Calambo x Mytens xx x Ahorn Z) at the 2020 CDI Lier before the corona lockdown in Belgium.
