On Monday morning 3 September 2012 the second and last dressage day of the mandatory KWPN foal inspection took place. Foals sired by Cachet L, Dorado, Chagall D&R, Don Tango B and Astrix were inspected by the KWPN Selection Committee.
The KWPN published a short impression of their findings:
Cachet L (Jazz x Ferro x Nimmerdor)
Uniform collection of well developed, long legged and well muscled foals which have an ample to a good dressage model with expression.
The legs are hard and somewhat fragile.
The walk is ample in ground cover and suppleness
The trot is light-foooted and ample in ground cover and self-carriage
the canter is lightfooted and ample in ground cover.
The foals move with good self-carriage.
The quality of the dams was mediocre to adequate.
The collection included 11 KWPN invited foals of which one of them was absent.
Dorado (Krack C x Rousseau x Donnerhall)
Uniform collection of sufficient to ample developed foals with an adequate dressage model.
The neck is vertical with a slight underneck. In movement the neck is well used.
The hindleg is usually straight.
The walk is adequate in ground cover and mediocre in suppleness
The trot is ample in ground cover
the canter is ample in ground cover and balance.
In movement the hindleg could move more actively to the point of gravity and should carry more weight.
The quality of the dams was average.
The collection included 10 KWPN invited foals.
Chagall D&R (Jazz x De Niro x Romancier)
Uniform collection of amply to well built, long legged foals which have a good dressage model with much expression.
The hindleg is slightly long. The legs are hard, sometimes a bit fragile.
The walk is good in ground cover and suppleness
The trot is lightfooted, good in ground cover with good flexion of the joints
The canter is lightfooted, uphill and with ample to good ground cover.
The foals move with good self carriage and much body usage.
The quality of the dams was ample to good.
The collection included 8 KWPN invited foals and 3 selected by the owner. Two KWPN invited foals were absent.
Don Tango B (Contango x Jazz x Ulft)
Uniform collection of adequately to amply built, solid foals which have an adequate dressage model.
The back and loin are often sunken and poorly muscled. The hind leg is often sickle hocked.
The walk is adequate to ample in ground cover
The trot is ample in ground cover. The hind leg is amply moved underneath the body. The frontleg is often flat.
The canter is adequate to ample in ground cover and has sufficient balance.
The foals often are croup high in movement and should show more body usage.
The quality of the dams was average.
The collection included 17 KWPN invited foals and 3 selected by the
owner. Two KWPN invited foals were absent.
Astrix (Obelisk x Olivi x Fruhling)
Uniform collection of adequately to amply developed foals which are adequately stand in the dressage model with a downhill frame. The neck is vertical with sometimes some underneck. The hind leg is often long and stands behind the body.
The walk is adequate to ample in ground cover.
The trot is ample in ground cover. The hindleg needs to move more and more resolutely underneath the body. The front leg is flat.
The canter is sufficient to ample in ground cover and has sufficient balance.
The foals need to move more uphill and show more body use.
The quality of the dams was average.
The collection included 11 KWPN invited foals and 3 selected by the
owner. Two KWPN invited foals were absent.
The results of the general foal inspections in combination with the home inspected foals will be processed for the exterior index, available as of January 2013.
