A Romanov colt and Diamond Hit filly were the winners of the Foal selection trial held at the Dressage Performance Centre in Lodbergen, Germany. This breed show was an official selection event for the 2011 German Foal Championships in Lienen, Germany, on 15 - 17 July 2011.
The judges at the Lodbergen foal selection show were Dutch Ad Valk, Swiss Paul Schmalz and German Hans-Heinrich Brüning.
A Romanov x Wolkentanz I colt was proclaimed champion of the selection show. The bay colt is bred by Johann Martens from Uplengen, Germany, and sold on the spot to Dr. Kerstin Klieber, who is on a major shopping spree acquiring her 15th foal this season. The colt scored 77 points for conformation and gaits. The runner up was a Dante Weltino x Charon colt bred by Andreas Klinker, which was also acquired by Klieber.
A Diamond Hit x Welt Hit II filly scored the highest amount of points in her gender group: 75,5. This champion filly is bred by Isabel Hüppe from Huntlosen, Germany. The reserve champion filly was a Quaterback x Stedinger offspring bred by Hans-Hermann Lagershausen from Berne in Lower Saxony, Germany. This filly scored 75.01 points.
Vechta auctioneer Uwe Heckmann was present to scout for foals for the upcoming Vechta Elite Foal Auction. He selected a Rosandro colt as well as a Belgian bred Dante Weltino x Ferro colt.
Lodbergen Stallion Station manager Urs Schweizer was very pleased with their first foal selection show. "It was a beautiful start because we not only saw very good foals, but also several sales took place here. That's exactly the goal of this event. We're sure that we'll continue this next year."
