Isabell Werth, the most decorated equestrian in history and current world No. 2 in dressage, will compete in the CDI-W Wellington on 17 - 22 February 2026 during the Global Dressage Festival.

"The seven-time Olympian’s appearance offers riders, fans and supporters a rare opportunity to witness a true icon of the sport competing at the highest level," the GDF press release stated.

Thomas Baur, Director of Sport at the Global Dressage Festival, added, "Isabell’s participation is an honour for the Global Dressage Festival and a testament to what Wellington International continues to build: a stage where the world’s greatest athletes choose to compete for generations to come. Her influence on the sport is unrivaled, and having her here elevates our event, inspires our community and strengthens our position as a premier venue for international dressage.”

Werth did not disclose which horse she is flying to Wellington, but she is looking forward to the short winter trip to sunny Florida.

"Sixteen years ago, I competed in Wellington for the first time with Satchmo. I have fond memories of my time there and I am excited to compete there once again in 2026. I look forward to sunny skies in February and welcoming dressage fans," she said.

Werth is familiar with Wellington: In February 2019 she thought a masterclass at the Global Dressage Festival while in January 2024 she gave one at the yard of her business partner, Helgstrand Dressage.
