The colt Vino Rosso S.K. was named the champion of the 2025 KWPN Foal Championship on 1 August 2025.

Eleven foals were selected to battle it out for the title and they were judged by Bart Bax, Johan Hamminga and Floor Dröge.

The 6-week old Vino Rosso-S.K. was named the champion. The chestnut colt is bred by R. Van Schaijk-Koopmans and is from the first crop of foals of Rome USB (by Vaderland x Zambuka). He is the second foal out of ster mare Peaceful-S.K. (by For Ferrero x Charmeur). Vino Rosso won the Friesian Foal Inspection and is now the national champion.

"Becoming champion in Harich was already fantastic, and becoming national champion surpasses everythintg. When does that happen," the emotional owner gasped.

Inspector Dröge stated, “the number one is a strongly built colt with a lot of front and a muscular neck. He has an active and spacious walk. In his light-footed trot, he shows a lot of technique and balance. And he just kept going, which gave him an advantage over the number two, who moved a bit less in the final."

Top Three

The reserve champion's title went to Viral Van Hof Olympia. He is by Real Dream out of Inatana van Hof Olympia (by Apache x Silvano N), bred by R. van Venrooij and owned by A. van Venrooij-Mathijssen. He won the Brabant Foal Championship before heading to Ermelo.

"Viral van Hof Olympia is generously developed and long-lined, shows a lot of body use and an easy way of transitioning," said Dröge.

The third place went to filly Vichi H (by Mclaren x Googel), bred and owned M. Hanegraaf .

"A luxurious foal with a lot of charisma and a beautiful forehand," said Dröge. "In movement, she showed great cadence and suppleness, although she could be a bit more uphill than numbers one and two."
