British Equestrian Lifts Sir Lee Pearson's Suspension

The BBC reported on 30 June 2025 that British Equestrian and British Dressag have lifted paralympian Lee Pearson's suspension after an internal investigation into alleged misconduct.

His suspension was not connected in any way to equine welfare.

Suspension Lifted

"With immediate effect, Sir Lee will return to the British Equestrian World Class Programme and his membership of British Dressage is fully reinstated which enables him to compete and coach nationally and internationally,"  British Equestrian said in a statement to the BBC.

British Dressage confirmed this to Eurodressage. "the suspension of Sir Lee Pearson was lifted on 14 May 2025, following the completion of their internal review processes," British Dressage wrote. "Effective from that date, Sir Lee returned to the British Equestrian World Class Programme and his membership of British Dressage was fully reinstated, enabling him to compete and coach nationally and internationally."

Return to Competition

Knighted in 2017, the 50-year old has won 14 golds between 2000 and 2021. was Britain’s first openly gay Paralympic champion. He was ParalympicsGB’s flag bearer for Rio 2016.

Pearson last competed internationally in March 2023 after which a long show break followed, including his suspension. He returned to the international stage   on 9 - 11 June 2025 at the CPEDI Wellington Heckfield, where he showed his long-time mount Breezer (by Bacardi) at Grade II level. He won the B-test and Kur.

Pearson "achieved the Minimum Eligibility Requirement qualification required to be eligible for selection to the nominated para dressage squad for the FEI Para Dressage European Championships in Ermelo (NED), 3-7 September," British Dressage further mentioned.
