San Cloud's Lucky, Justine Ludot's first international Grand Prix ride, has been sold into American ownership but will stay in France as an L.A. Olympic hopeful.

San Cloud's Lucky is a 12-year old Hanoverian gelding by San Amour out of World Vision (by Wolkenstein II x Maat I x Wittelsbach). He is bred by Helder Carvalho in Germany.

Shereen Giese

The bay was licensed as a breeding stallion for the ZfDP studbok at a licensing in Grevenbroich on 15 June 2016. He never did a stallion performance test but earned his score through sport and by competing him in some Bundeschampionate qualifiers. There is no offspring registered with the German FN.

San Cloud's Lucky was gelded to be focused on sport. He first competed as a 3-year old in 2016 under owner Shereen Giese. She gradually produced him up the levels, placed 55th in the 5-year old preliminary test at the 2018 Bundeschampionate and by 2020 they competed in their first S-level classes in Germany.

Finnish Terhi Stegars scouted San Cloud's Lucky in Germany and he was acquired by her boss at the time, Claude Niedner of Domus Equus and the Contern Dressage Center in Luxebourg.

Terhi trained the horse to Grand Prix level but never competed him. When she left Contern Dressage Center, French Justine Ludot took over the ride as head rider in the barn.

Ludot debuted San Cloud's Lucky internationally in March 2024, first in the medium tour, at the CDI Ornago. A month later they both rode their first international Grand Prix test in Hagen to a 65.326%. From there they went to CDi's in Le Mans, Crozet; Stuttgart, and Kronenberg Indoor. Ludot placed 11th at the 2024 French Grand Prix Championships

Their last show was the 2025 CDI-W Basel. Their technical high score is 68.085% achieved in the 2024 CDI Stuttgart Grand Prix Special.

L.A. Olympic Hopeful

San Cloud's Lucky has now been sold into American ownership but has moved to the stable of French Olympian Corentin Pottier and his wife Camille Judet Cheret. They will train the horse as their L.A. Olympic hopeful.

"He will stay with us until 2028," Camille told Eurodressage. "Either for me or Coco to compete like Donaustern."

While San Cloud's Lucky and Fetiche de Hus are owned by Renee O'Leary of Old Raptor Farm in the USA, the 11-year old Trakehner gelding Donaustern (by Herbstkonig x Donauwalzer) is in Taiwanese ownership, owned by Joan Chen.
