The formerly licensed KWPN stallion Habanna has been sold to Japan.

Habanna is a 13-year old Dutch warmblood by Vivaldo out of Dimare, the full sister of Olympic team gold medal winner Cosmo (by Van Gogh x Fruhling). He is bred by Linda Rutten, wife of Bert Rutten.

Licensed

Habanna was licensed as a breeding stallion at the 2015 KWPN Stallion Licensing in Den Bosch. He finished third with 85.5 points in the 2015 KWPN Autumn Stallion Performance Testing.

He only bred a few years and sired 86 offspring that are KWPN registered. He has no licensed sons with KWPN.  He was gelded in 2018 after he tested positive as carrier of WFFS.

His most successful offspring is probably Mayflower, who finished third in the 2021 Pavo Cup Finals.

Sport Career

In 2016 the ride was allocated to Kirsten Beckers and they finished eighth in the 2017 Pavo Cup Finals and third in the 2018 KWPN Stallion Competition.

The reins were then passed on to Bert Rutten's student, British Emily Bradshaw, who competed him up to national Grand Prix level. Habanna never showed internationally.

Japan

The bay has now been sold to Japan.
