The Danish warmblood bred My Blue Hors Santiano was the most popular KWPN stallion in The Netherlands amongst breeders in 2021.

The dark bay 6-year old Danish owned Santiano (by Sezuan x Romanov) covered the most mares in 2021, which resulted in 253 born foals in 2022.

1. My Blue Hors Santiano

Santiano is bred by Straight Horse in Denmark and sold to Blue Hors as a youngster.

The Danish stallion became the third best scoring horse in the 2020 KWPN Stallion Performance Test with 87 points and was accepted for KWPN breeding.

His name changed from Straight Horse Santiano to "My Blue Hors Santiano" as his name had to start with the letter M according to KWPN rules.

Blue Hors made a collaboration with Dutch stallion station Van Uytert, where he has stood up for stud ever since. In 2022 he won the Pavo Cup finals under Renate van Uytert.

2. Las Vegas

Nico Witte and Nol Gerritsen’s huge 7-year old stallion Las Vegas (by Ferdeaux x Wynton) became the runner-up as the second most used stallion. He sired 251 foals in 2022.

In February 2021 Las Vegas became the high scoring stallion in the KWPN Stallion Competition Finals Alternativen which attracted a lot of interest from the breeders. His performance at the 2021 World Young Horse Championships in Verden at the end of the breeding season added to the popularity of the horse.

3. Kjento

Gert-Jan van Olst's 8-year old KWPN bred Kjento (by Negro x Jazz) continues to be popular amongst breeders. In 2020 he was already the number one on the ranking of most used stallions and two years later he is still in third place with 237 foals born in 2022.

This year the KWPN only released the statistics of its top five of most used dressage breeding stallions.

In 2022 almost 11,500 foals were born and registered with the KWPN society. Approximately 5500 of them are dressage bred, 550 are harness horse, and 205 are Gelderlander.
