Just Wimhof became the most popular breeding stallion for the KWPN society in 2017. With 234 foals born in 2018 he registered the most offspring of all dressage stallions last year.

In 2018 over 11,000 foals were born and registered with the KWPN society: 5,600 of them are jumper foals, 4,700 are dressage foals; 600 of them are harness horses and 200 Gelderlander.

Just Wimphof (by De Niro) was licensed in 2017 and already in his first year covered a big amount of mares, resulting in 234 foals born and registered with the KWPN in 2018.

The second most popular stallion of 2017 was the Hanoverian bred Toto Jr (by Totilas x Desperados) who produced 179 foals in 2018.

Incognito (by Davino VOD) is the third most used stallion with 163 foals. No less than five of those foals made it all the way to the 2018 KWPN Foal Championship in Ermelo!

The oldest stallion in the top five is Dream Boy (by Vivaldi) who ranked fourth with 138 foals born.

The 7-year old Daily Diamond (by Daily Deal) completes the top five with 137 foals born.

Indian Rock (by Apache) had 122 foals born.

The five top five stallions were good for 851 foals, which is 18% of the 4,700 registered dressage foals in 2018. In 2017 the top five produced more than 1000 foals.

Stallions with a maximum age of 8-year olds were responsible for 57% of the KWPN registered foals in 2018, which means that breeders are almost equally divided between using younger (unproven) colts to older proven breeding stallions.

320 different stallions sired the 2018 born KWPN foals: 236 of them were good for 1 to 10 foals, 42 stallions sired 11 - 25 foals, 15 stallions sired 26 - 50 foals and 15 stallions sired 51 - 100 foals.

Nine stallions produced 101 to 140 foals. This group was good for 24% of the total foal stock of 2018 with 1,115 foals born.
