An executorial sale is planned on 21 April 2022 for equestrian centre Den Goubergh in Roosendaal, The Netherlands.
The venue hosted numerous international dressage competitions and the 2017 European Championships for Children, Juniors, and Young Riders.
Den Goubergh
Den Goubergh in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, first became a name in the dressage world as the training base of Dutch dressage rider Willem Jan Schotte.
The property was owned by Jan Willem André de la Porte at the time and hosted several international youth rider competitions and Dutch national dressage shows.
Horses owned by De la Porte received the Goubergh suffix and were competed in Europe and the U.S.A. (Goubergh's Kasper, Montreal, Ideaal, Ray of Light, Karmijn).
Leon van der Pluijm
In 2010 it sold to shoe sales agent Leon van der Pluijm who had grand plans for the venue.
While initially improvements were made to the facility, which hosted numerous CDI's, indoor competitions and the 2017 European Youth Championships, the big expansion never took place.
The Demise
In the spring of 2018 the scheduled CDI was cancelled and it was the beginning of the demise of the celebrated equestrian centre.
At the time Van der Pluijm explained that delays in planning permission and the rebuilding process of Den Goubergh as well as a refinancing were the cause for the cancellation of the show. Soon after the 2018 European Under 25 Championships in Roosendaal were cancelled too and they moved to Exloo.
Executorial Sale
According to Horses.nl, Den Goubergh Events BV was declared bankrupt in September 2021.
The facility is still in operation according to posts on its Facebook page, but the photos on the auction website show a desolate property.
