Former Austrian Grand Prix team rider Renate Voglsang is back in the saddle after back problems in 2020 forced her to undergo surgery.

Speedy Recovery

The 50-year old underwent surgery in the clinic in Ingolstadt, Germany, and has made a speedy recovery.

"I'm back in the saddle and feel 10 years younger and 10 centimeters taller," she joked. "After last year's back problems got dramatically worse the last few weeks, an operation was inevitable."

Based at Gut Fasanenhohe in Chieming, Germany, Renate put the care of her horses and clients temporarily in the hands of assistants Sabrina Pauler and Jessica Oertel. "It's reassuring to know that I can rely on thel in every situation in life," said Renate. "It's good to know that I have so much back-up and support."

Austrian Olympian

Voglsang made her claim to fame at the beginning of the 2010s aboard the Hanoverian stallion Fabriano (by Florestan I x Angelo xx x Fitger). They were a fixture on the Austrian dressage team from 2011 till 2014 and represented Austria at the 2011 and 2013 European Dressage Championships, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen.

After the sale of Fabriano to Japan, Voglsang continued to ride at CDI's with horses Fratello, Royal Happiness OLD, Smirnoff and Sir Raphael.

In 2020 she introduced a new Grand Prix horse on the scene, Fuerst Ferdinand Zur Fasanenhöhe (by Furst Hohenstein x Pitango) and added the home bred mare Donna Joana RV (by Johnson x De Niro) to that Grand Prix string in 2021.
