German Grand Prix ride Anna Katharina Lüttgen lost her life in a plane crash in Tanzania on 15 November 2017. The 33-year old Luttgen was spending her honeymoon with husband Alexis Steinert in Africa. Both tragically died.

Eleven people died in this plane crash in northern Tanzania. A Cessna Grand Caravan owned by Coastal Aviation carried 10 passengers and one pilot. The plane crashed at about 11am in the Empakaai area en route to the Serengeti. The cause of the crash is still unknown.

Lüttgen married Steinert in July and the couple spent a mini moon in Paris. Their trip to Tanzania was their big honeymoon. Steinert ran his own TSL Consultancy agency in Luttgen's home town Kerpen, Germany.

Anna Katharina Lüttgen competed at Grand Prix level with horses Duvalier, Zancor and Lamborghini. She also competed in the Bundeschampionate Finals (Lamborghini, Keep Cool), the Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals (Habitus), the German Championships as a youth rider and the Rhinelander regional championships.

Lüttgen was based at her family's yard Gut Mödrath. She leaves behind her parents Ewald and Esther and sister Louisa.

Eurodressage expresses its condolences to the Lüttgen family for this tragic, devastating loss.
