Stefan Johanson, vice chair of the Swedish national equestrian centres in Flyinge and Stromsholm, has passed away on 31 December 2018. He was 62 years old.

Johanson was also managing director of the Hastnaringen National foundation and chair of the board of the Swedish Horse Research Foundation.

Johanson was one of the most important persons for the Swedish Equestrian sport and development.

"He was so extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the horse sector. He was respected by all and not least in the political sector," said Annika Tjernström, board member of the Hästnärningen National Foundation.

Stefan Johanson was the driving force and aided in Hästnärningen's National Foundation and the Swedish Equestrian Federation to work closely on political issues. Together, the Swedish Equestrian Federation and HNS directed selection tours to meet members of parliament and municipal politicians and spread the issues of the horse industry and, not least, promote riding as a health care.

Johanson's horse passion was originally with trotting.

"He leaves a big vacuum behind him," Annika Tjernström concluded, sending her thoughts to Stephen's closest family and friends in this difficult moment.
